Upcoming Events..........All Summer at the J-School!

17 East will be hosting a series of events this summer at the Jerusalem Schoolhouse starting with an open mike on May 20th. The Schoolhouse has seating inside for about 65 people however at last year's events seats on the spacious lawn were popular especially among the youger folks.
We'd like to thank everyone who came out to see us at Nectar's back in December and we were happily surprised to see such a good turnout at our show in March. We had taken the couple months between shows to slow down a bit, spending more family oriented time and getting back to work on some new material. Our last show, a chilly March evening at JP's Pub featured several tunes never heard before outside the studio. Hear any of these as well as your favorite 17 East songs at:

Coming Up .................Nectar's

17 East is teaming up with other local artists for a show on one of the hottest stages in the city! On December 12th, Nectar's, that venerable institution in the heart of Downtown Burlington will be hosting an amazing line up. Kickin' off the show is the remarkable, formidable, inimitable turntablist DJ Gunner. 2nd Agenda comes up next with a four-piece band consisting of guitar, drums-beats, turntables and vocals (in a variety of forms). A collaboration based not solely on musical taste, but more importantly upon ethics, opinions, and a shared aesthetic. 17 East will then take the stage for an exciting show featuring the bellowing vocals of award winning vocalist Renee Jackson, tight percussive rhythms and ripping leads, setting the table for headliners Close to Nowhere, who offer harmony driven, guitar driven rock and roll. When you come to the show you can expect to hear a lot of three part harmonies, with ripping guitar leads, laid over heavy beats with intricate interactions between the guitars, bass, and drums.

Look forward to seeing 17 East teaming up with these same artists in future shows.

17 East Rocks JP's!

Many thanks to all who came out to JP's Thursday nigt! What a rocking gig. Jp's is quickly becoming a favorite place to play. The staff are teriffic people and the crowd is always lively but well behaved...................as well as can be expected in a bar at 1 am. But you fans of live local music are what give us the fuel to put on a high energy show. If you were there and you'd like to see us again, or if you missed it but would like a second chance, stop in at JP's and let Mike or Jimmy know that 17 East rocks and you'd like to have us back!

Come out to JP's !

17 East returns to the stage at JP's Pub on Main Street in Burlington,VT !

Thusday night July 20th at 10pm!

We had a great time there last month and YOU were the reason why!

Let's make this show a night to remember!

Schoolhouse open mike a huge success!

This is what the whole town is talking about! Still! A week and a half has passed since the community of South Starksboro and surrounding areas came out in fine fashion to support local live music. Originally planned as an "experimental event", this could be the kick off to much larger ideas! Already plans are in the works for another similar event in August and a larger affair in September. Although these events are for all local musicians 17 East in part or whole will be closely involved.

Open Mic Bill Filling Up Fast!

17 East will be hosting an open mic at the Jerusalem Schoolhouse as part of the Stark Mountain Music Series, Satuday July 8th. We may still be able to squeeze in one or two more acts, but the bill is filling up quickly. If anyone would like to paticipate send an email to 17_east@rock.com . 17 East will open the show with a set of their favorite acoustic numbers and close the show in similar fashion, and in between we will have a sampling of artists from the five town area. If you'd like to come and enjoy the show, you'll find the Jerusalem Schoolhouse on Jerusalem Road off of route 17 in South Starksboro, VT. Located almost behind the Jerusalem Corners Store.

Sparks Fly on Stark Mountain!

Literally!

Ten Rod Road opened the Stark Mountain Summer Solstice Celebration with a set of covers from artists such as Sherl Crow and John Hiatt, finishing up just as dusk was falling. As Eric, master of the keyboards was taking the stage, flame was set to the base of the bonfire, a ritual part of the annual event. As the flames grew and the tinder burned, the wind kicked up great swarms of sparks toward the sound company's gear and engulfing the stage. With the aid of partygoers and musicians waiting to play, the audio engineers moved their gear to safety and did their best to protect the stage. Fire extinguishers were available but not needed, there was never any serious danger of the fire getting out of control, but the sparks and smoke brought the show to a halt for a couple hours while the perhaps overly large celebratory pyre diminshed to a friendlier state. Because of the delay, the rest of the bands each had to shorten their sets, but everyone got to play and the 5th annual Stark Mountain Summer Solstice Celebration was one helluva bash!

Let us all sing a very loud song of appreciation to the Hall family for planning and hosting this kick-off to the summer season!

This historic town building's warm character and seating for about 50 guests make it a teriffic venue for coffee house style concerts.
